Work Clothes Music History

About the Artists

"I guess you could call Party One our place of birth... that is where the music began." Says Work Clothes artist, Tommy Garland. Party One Night Club is still the home of this fledgling band who's music presents an exotic twist of ballad and alternative rock. Tommy Garland and side-kick, Devin Michaels, started their music career while they maintained real jobs as bartenders at Party One Night Club. Patrons of the club formed a loyal fan following when their 2 beloved drink mixers began rocking the house with their music.

" We had considered starting a band for a while," Devin explains, " when one night, the entertainment didn't show... I started playing the piano, Tommy picked up a guitar, and the rest is history!"

After that first successful debut, Tommy and Devin managed to record some demo tracks - which appeared on their first album Kick the Hard Hat. That album didn't pick up a lot of publicity, and Work Clothes took a few year break from recording. As they put it, music was part of their dream world, and they had to tend to real world matters for a while. Responsibilities to family, school, and livelihood ate up their time, so Work Clothes Music got pushed to the back burner.

After a complete 180 turn-around - the band has now released 2 albums in one year. With the addition of a new member - Kal Mansen on the drums - Work Clothes Music creates a new presence for itself in the world of alternative rock. The first of the albums - Punk in Jeans, according to Tommy, " is more like time capsul of the bits of music produced here and there over the past few years. It is interesting to see how perspectives change... music is just different when you are no longer 25 with your whole life ahead of you and the world at your finger tips." The second - Bankrupt With a Tattoo is comprised of all new songs, and is considerably more ballad than alternative rock.
